Priority 2 To tackle cycle crime and cycle related ASB in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -You want to feel safe coming to the City Centre and leaving you bike locked up. You don’t want to be bothered by E-bikes or E-scooters driving through the City Centre.
*FEBRUARY UPDATE* -Bike marking events are an effective measure to promote cycle safety. At the events, bikes will be marked with a unique code and added to the national Bike Register database, making it easier for police to reunite stolen bikes with their owners. It can also act as a deterrent to would-be thieves as the bike is permanently marked, making it more difficult to sell. Research suggests cyclists are 83% more likely to have their bike stolen if it is not Bike Register marked. We have continued to hold these events and have many more planned at the Town Hall Square, please see the below dates; Monday 2nd March 10:00 - 12:00 Saturday 14th March 16:00 - 18:00 Wednesday 1st April 14:30 - 16:30 Thursday 9th April 16:00 0 18:00 Friday 17th April 14:00 - 16:00
-Operation Pedalfast deployments continue to tackle illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters and the associated anti-social behaviours these vehicle's cause. We have now seized a combined total of 724 of these vehicles and removed them from circulation.
